Description
Cool storage technology was first applied more than a half-century ago in 1925 when O.L. Moody installed an oversized brine tank in the ice plant of the Baker Hotel in Dallas, Texas to create surplus refrigeration to provide cooling to the hotel’s coffee shop and cafeteria (1). Until recently, however, interest in the concept have waned because of new technology in conventional cooling systems making them more efficient and reliable. With increasing energy cost, cool storage has emerged as a cost-effective space cooling technology especially with the incentives the utilities are offering their customers .
