Description
The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the capability of curtain fire dampers and multiblade fire/smoke dampers to close at air velocities and closure pressures at ambient and elevated temperatures that may occur in smoke management systems. Other objectives were to determine the transient pressures upstream and downstream of dampers, and the leakage of fire/smoke dampers at ambient air and elevated temperature after dynamic closure.
Results of this study are intended for use by agencies promulgating standards and codes, authors of smoke management handbooks, such as ASHRAE (1991a)/design books/guidelines/manuals, and smoke management system designers.
