Description

Describes a study aimed at gathering accurate experimental data using two different types of diffusers under different operating conditions for the determination of both the fluid dynamics and thermal characteristics of air motion in a realistic room. Describes experimental testing on both a high side wall grille and a linear slot ceiling diffuser. For each to these diffusers collects experimental data both cooling and isothermal conditions at the same volumetric flow rate. Finds the diffusers perform quite differently under the same operating conditions. The high side wall grille introduced more air into the occupied zone of the room than did the linear slot ceiling diffuser. This directly affected both the fluid dynamics and the thermal characteristics in the room. In addition, operating under cooling or isothermal conditions also affected the jet behaviour.
