Description

Describes the application of the Navier-Stokes equation and a two-equation turbulence model contained within a commercially available solver to an incompressible viscous turbulent flow within a flat oval ductwork elbow for prediction of pressure loss. The aim was to determine whether computation fluid (CFD) dynamics could be used to adequately predict pressure loss coefficients for HVAC ductwork fittings and configurations. States the data support the claim that CFD methods may be used to determine ductwork loss coefficients efficiently and accurately.
