Occupants live and work in buildings for 90% of their time. Depending on the building type and degree of automation, occupants remain one of the greatest influences of building energy use. The goal of Annex 79 is to integrate and implement occupancy and occupant behavior into the design process and building operation to improve both energy performance and occupant comfort. There are four major activities of Annex 79. This seminar discusses the progress of each activity and covers the topics, including multiple interdependent indoor environmental drivers, big data for occupant behavior and integrating behavior into design and operation.
