Legionella is a waterborne pathogen that accounts for numerousdeaths each year. Legionella species are among the pathogens that are aconcern for facilities in potable and cooling water systems. While manyguidelines exist to assist with preventing Legionellosis, incorporatingthese recommendations into building specifications at the design stage isnot always straightforward and is often overlooked. This seminarprovides an overview of Legionella (the bacteria and the disease) andprovides guidance to engineers on how to specify system design usingexisting guidelines and codes.
