Description
States that the technology for long-lived, reliable heat-powered sorption refrigeration systems for spacecraft use has recently been applied to improve the energy-efficiency of ground-based adsorption heat pumps. Novel regenerative heating techniques can now enable more than 90% of the sorption compressor’s required heat to be reused. Using actual sorption isotherm data and detailed analytic thermal computer models, analysis has predicted that the cooling and heating COPs will be significantly better than for any other single-stage, heat powered heat pump.
KEYWORDS: Heat pumps, adsorption heat pumps, coefficient of performance, cooling, heating.
