Description
(Supersedes 127-2007)
The purpose of the standard is to establish a uniform set of requirements for rating computer and data processing room (CDPR) unitary air conditioners. This 2012 revision of the standard makes some significant changes to the 2007 edition: (1) The standard has been modified to cover four different product application classifications. This reflects the industry need to modify equipment to accept higher and higher return temperatures, thus increasing efficiency. (2) The chilled-water conditions have been adjusted on the chilled-water air handlers to emphasize the higher system efficiency when higher temperatures are used, even though the specific units involved will appear to be lower in capacity and efficiency. (3) The acronym “SCOP” was exchanged as this is currently used within 90.1 with a different meaning. (4) A term and testing/rating procedure for equipment covered by Standard 127 was established that is similar to the term iEER now being used in Standard 90.1. (5) A testing/rating procedure for the newer technologies now being deployed within computer rooms such as “row based cooling systems” and enclosed cabinet cooling was established.
