Description
The present paper is divided into two parts to fulfill different objectives. The fIrst part investigates steady state conditions with the specific purpose of studying the effects of various cooling tube sizes and spacings on the local temperature distribution on the skin and on the amount of heat removed locally from the body. A secondary objective is to compare the experimental data with calculated results obtained from analytical models of the thermal behavior of living tissue.
The second part examines transient metabolic conditions in a steady environment with the specific objective of obtaining data on local skin surface temperature variations and the associated transient times required for changes to take place.
