Description
For thermal comfort and energy conservation, displacement ventilation systems and radiant cooling systems are increasingly being used. Simulation programs such as DOE-2 are generally not able to correctly simulate such systems because of their one-node approach for the zone temperature. A procedure for creating DOE-2 inputs to simulate both system types, alone or in combination and without program code changes, was developed, based on external models and validated against existing experimental data sets. The approaches used are a two-zone model for the displacement ventilation and a “dummy” zone for the radiant cooling. A sufficiently good agreement shows that this is possible. Future work will indicate its dynamic accuracy.
