This column identifies the different meanings the term “resilience” has in different contexts and discusses the issues the conceptraises for mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers. It includes theprimarily integrated measures to improve resilience, which requires thecoordinated efforts of most of the building design disciplines, includingarchitectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil.
