This chapter introducestwo-phase flow and heat transfer processes of pure substances and refrigerantmixtures. Thus, some multiphase processes that are important to HVAC&Rapplications are not discussed here. The 2020 ASHRAE Handbook—HVAC Systems and Equipment provides information onseveral such applications, including humidification (Chapter 22), particulatecontaminants(Chapter 29), cooling towers (Chapter 40), and evaporative air cooling(Chapter 41).
