Description

The concept of exergy efficiency of the turbine-generator with condenser is introduced. One feature concerns the boiler and the turbine with condenser as a unit. Two kinds of objective functions are used. One function is used to maximise the total first-law efficiency of the boiler-turbine system. The second function is to maximise the total second-law efficiency of the boiler-turbine system. In the optimisation model, nine regression formulas are used. These are obtained from the measured test data. From the results of the optimisation model, it can be seen that the model developed can represent the effect of operational parameters on the turbine and boiler efficiency. The results obtained by the exergy objective function are more sensitive than those obtained by the energy objective function. Some results can be used to provide guidance for the operation of the power plants. The exergy analysis method can also be used to analyse energy systems such as HVAC cogeneration, waste heat recovery systems, and so on.
