Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1974

Category:

Description

A knowledge of the thermodynamic properties of refrigerants is essential for comparing actualwith theoretical performance, for estimating the desirability of using a refrigerant in a givenapplication, and for comparing one refrigerant with another. In the past, equations have beendeveloped to describe thermodynamic behavior and used to calculate tables of properties. Thetables were then used to calculate refrigeration cycle data, and the equations, having servedtheir purpose, were no longer of general interest.

The objectives of this report are:

  1. To assemble the constants for several refrigerants tha.t can be used in general formsof the equations necessary for the calculation of ‘thermoctrnamic and refrigerationproperties.
  2. To illustrate how the English equations can be used to generate data in metric units.
  3. To show that same simplif~cation of the equation of state is possible withoutaffecting the calculation of properties iu’the region of interest in refrigerationand air conaitioning.
