Description
The monitoring of hot-water consumption was accomplished at five commercial buildings in four different building use categories – two dormitories, a nursing home, a full-service restaurant, and an hotel. The resultant data were analysed, critically evaluated, and compared to values currently published in the ASHRAE Handbook. The Handbook notes maximum hour, maximum day, and average day hot-water consumption values for eight different building types. Some of the data from the newly monitored sites were comparable to the ASHRAE values, however, much of them showed higher consumption levels.
