Description

Two contributing mechanisms to the composition shifts observed when using zeotropic hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants in refrigerating and air-conditioning applications have been investigated using both computer modelling and experimental techniques. The major distinguishing features of the model are the inclusion of refrigerant-lubricant interactions and the composition shifts associated with vapour-liquid volume fraction effects in zeotropic refrigerants. Describes the computer model and illustrates the behaviour of some HFC refrigerants as a number of refrigeration system parameters are varied.
