Description
The thermal performance of swinging doors is examined using detailed computer simulation. The study investigates the impact of door slab material, embossment pattern, and size and type of glazing unit on total door system U-factor. The performance of door sidelites was also studied. Insulated door systems were found to have U-factors that were less than half those of their wood counterparts. The number of door panels and panel configuration had minimal effects on total product U-factor. The U-factors of door sidelites were similar to those of swinging doors of similar design.
