Description
It is well documented that parallel pumping ensures a degree of redundancy such that if one pump were to fail in a two pump system, the second pump would not only continue to operate, but would also exceed its design output. The basic rule1 is that the point of system operation will always be the intersection of the pump curve and system curve. It is also often expressed that single pump operation may provide standby service2 for up to 80% of the design flow, the actual amount depending on the specific pump curve and system curve.
