RP-86 — Field Study of Air Quality in Air Conditioned Spaces

Original price was: $30.00.Current price is: $15.00.

Report / Survey by ASHRAE, 1970

Category:

Description

The purpose of the study has been to learn by field tests applied to typical air-conditioning systems, whether or not these systems are effectively removing pollutants from air-conditioned spaces.

The study is limited to office type spaces and to three pollutants; — particulates, sulfur dioxide, and ozone (oxidants expressed as ozone).

A total of six sites were tested, three during the 1968 season and three during 1969. The second three were tested both during the summer and again during the heating season.

Results of these tests are reported in graphic form showing fluctuations of pollution levels for the outside air, the inside air, and the air as it comes from the conditioning unit (supply air). Particulates showed decreases pretty much in relation to the cleaning capability of the system; in general, the more sophisticated (and expensive) the equipment, the better the job.
