Description
Neither the Handbook of Fundamentals nor any other single source presents statistical information on defining framing factors for the residential building envelope. Yet, the framing factor is one of the major characteristics, which define the overall envelope thermal performance in residential structures. This research is needed in order that major decisions affecting the energy efficiency levels throughout the country may be better suited to develop more accurate cost effective energy savings opportunities.
The objective of the research project is to collect statistical information on the construction characteristics of light frame walls in low-rise residential construction. The information will refer to house types, geometry, and construction techniques. It is anticipated that this statistical information will then be organized into a useful format for inclusion in the Handbook of Fundamentals.
