Description
In 1982 the National Science Foundation funded a University/Industry program at the University of Arizona. The primary objective involved basic research in contamination prevention and removal. A second objective was the development of more contact and interaction between University researchers and scientist/engineers in the industry.
As part of this program a number of new contamination control technologies were investigated and presented to industry for evaluation . This report will discuss some of the experiments and the results . The topics include:
- Improved filtration systems for removal of submicron particulates with reduced pressure drop.
- New garment technology to reduce particle escape and improve ventilation.
- Improved air shower systems for removal of dust from clean room garments.
- Evaluation of dust generation by clean room gloves.
- Particle emission by smokers for 50 minutes after smoking ceases. Application of new mask systems for collection of particles emitted by smokers.
