Description
In the school of architecture at a Tennessee university our HVAC education approach is focused on the needs of the future architecL He or she receives instruction in bioclimatic design, solar access, and passive solar tempering, as well as HVAC calculations for heat gain and loss and psychrometrics. We also cover HVAC system composition and equipment location in buildings. This information, first introduced and drilled in a lecture format, is incorporated into a design studio project at the beginning of the fourth year. Students learn to compose the technical systems that go into a building by doing it. For students who wish to further study about HVAC, there are elective classes in HVAC calculations and energy design.
